Big Beaver Road and city projects
The City of Troy, the Road Commission for Oakland County, and the Downtown Development Authority planned concrete repairs on Big Beaver for fall 2026 and spring and summer 2027. The city says those repairs are part of a larger federally funded project to replace concrete, traffic signals, and sidewalk ramps along Big Beaver from Adams to Dequindre in 2028 and 2029. Signal and ramp work on a major corridor means digging around signal conduit, lighting, fiber, and utilities in a crowded right-of-way.
Troy also uses trenchless methods. The city scheduled a 12-inch water main on Stephenson Highway for cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) lining in 2026. Trenchless rehab and directional drilling still need access pits and verified crossings, and potholing is how contractors confirm what's in the way.
Commercial and office sites
Troy's office parks and retail centers have extensive private site utilities, including parking-lot lighting, irrigation, private storm systems, and campus fiber, none of which MISS DIG member utilities mark. See private utility locating.
